Construction at The Buckingham continues to advance, with the project now transitioning from the basement works into the main suspended structural frame.

Basement 1 has reached a significant stage, with the first suspended slab pour completed on 17 September, followed by Pour 2 on 24 September. These pours have established the structural cycle for the building, with Pours 3 through 6 also progressing concurrently across multiple work fronts. Formwork, reinforcement and post-tensioning works are continuing throughout Basement 1 as the structure steadily moves forward.

Precast installation has also progressed across Basement 1, including the installation of precast columns. With approximately 25% of the Basement 1 precast columns now installed, the structure is continuing to take shape and prepare for the next stages of construction.

Removal of the temporary construction ramp has commenced, allowing works to progress toward the permanent basement ramp arrangement. Associated shotcrete works are also continuing as part of this sequence.

Importantly, works have now commenced at Ground Floor level. Preparation and support formwork is underway around the capping beam in readiness for Ground Pour 1, marking the beginning of the project’s transition toward the above-ground structure.

Permanent concrete pumping infrastructure has now been commissioned for the suspended structure, including the static pump, concrete lines and placement boom. This infrastructure has already been successfully utilised for the Basement 1 pours and will support the ongoing structural works as construction progresses vertically.

Behind the scenes, structural quality assurance processes are also firmly established, including reinforcement inspections, concrete cover checks, post-tensioning requirements and coordination of structural penetrations prior to each pour. Formwork stripping, backpropping and scaffold planning are also progressing in preparation for the repetitive structural cycle that will continue through the upper levels.

With Basement 1 progressing across several fronts, precast installation underway and Ground Floor formwork now commencing, The Buckingham is entering an exciting new stage of construction as the building begins its transition above ground.
